Shade M – Clean Makeup
Delivering halal beauty products to our customers that are quality, clean and safe is at the core of Shade M’s foundation. From concept to final product, we’re on a mission to challenge what exists in the market by raising the bar and reshaping the beauty industry as we know it. A brand made for all the bold and beautiful women around the world, Shade M is spearheading the halal beauty movement – a global trend synonymous with healthy and consciously-made products. At Shade M, we not only celebrate the diversity of our clients, but also prioritize their wellness.
Why do we care so much? Well, it’s simple – we believe you deserve the best. After decades of investing in products that endorse harmful ingredients, there’s now a demand by customers to know what’s going into their bodies more than ever before. Luckily, our halal makeup goes nearly hand-in-hand with vegan and clean makeup, following some of the same criteria. At Shade M, we vow to create products that are transparent, ethical and dedicated to making you look and feel fabulous. But don’t be alarmed! Producing clean makeup doesn’t equate to compromise.
We’re excited to offer a wide range of makeup that’s long-lasting and available in a seemingly endless number of shades and pigments. Passionate about the ethics of our customers, we’re excited to share that Shade M is the newest addition to the beauty sphere, with all of our products being halal certified, vegan friendly and cruelty-free PETA approved.
We know that some of these terms might be new in clean beauty, so we’ve broken the meanings down below.
Contrary to popular belief, halal isn’t limited to the Islamic diet and regulations circling the consumption of food and drinks. Halal extends to beauty, too, and the growing demand for halal cosmetics is something worth shouting about. Simply put, halal makeup doesn’t include animal-derived ingredients, alcohol or GMOs that are deemed unclean in Islam. According to ESMA, a halal-certifying body in the UAE, in order for a product to be classified as halal it must meet a rigid set of requirements that overlook everything from ingredients and production to packaging and shipping. ESMA, for example, certifies halal products that are free of cross contamination with non-halal ingredients, alcohol and animal-derived GMOs. So what’s the difference between halal and vegan in beauty?
Although they’re not exactly the same, the two are nearly synonymous and avoid similar ingredients. Halal goes hand-in-hand with the ethos of vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics, which are increasingly becoming a standard. Regardless of the morals that guide you, halal products are suitable for everyone. Following a rigorous procedure to insure our products are guaranteed clean and halal, Shade M is proud to be halal certified by RACS. Learn more about what makes Shade M halal approved:
In recent years, vegan products have been the new focus in beauty. More than ever, companies are being challenged by beauty conscious consumers who demand a change in brand formulas and new cosmetics that honor our earths’ little creatures, our wellbeing and our environment. While the word vegan is often associated with the lack of consumption of animals in foods and beverages, it extends itself to clothing, accessories and cosmetics, too. By PETA’s definition, vegan means that a product is made completely free of animal products and animal-derived ingredients. As a vegan friendly brand, this means that our formulas are free of gelatin, cholesterol, collagen, guanine, honey, oleic acid, carmine and other ingredients commonly found on beauty shelves.
So why should you care? For starters, our skin absorbs up to 60 percent of the products we use and animal ingredients have proven to be more harsh and likely to clog pores in comparison to vegan products. Whether you consider yourself a plant-based gal or carnivorous, vegan products are proven to be not only friendlier to our skin but also our planet – and all without any compromise. At Shade M, we’re excited to be part of this ethical shift as a PETA-approved, vegan friendly and cruelty-free brand. More importantly, we’ve taken the extra mile to assure that no animals were hurt in the process of making our cosmetics. Despite assumptions that vegan equates to cruelty-free, the two are not synonymous. Keep reading to learn more about our ethical makeup journey.
At Shade M, we’re a team of animal lovers who are against the cruel and outdated practice of animal testing in any capacity. In compliance with PETA’s definition of cruelty-free, all ingredients and processes involved in the making of Shade M makeup, from production and development to the final product, were without any tests made on animals. Thanks to modern technology, we’re able to test and assure the safety of our products without hurting any animals in the process. Shade M is passionate about minimizing harm to our planet and we really do love everyone (even the smallest of creatures)!
